Very interesting and important read. If you do not have papers, if you have never seen a dogs parents. Do not play guess the breed. This is where shelters have to enlist the help of a behaviourist to evaluate the dog and rehome the dog based on the outcome of that evaluation. Do not call it a pit bull if you cannot prove it is a pit bull.

7% of all dog bites come from the family dog or a dog known to the victim, with children being the number 1 victims. This fun (and we can assure you will drive you mad as it gets stuck in your head) song is a fun way to start teaching kids. Watch the video: Watch the video:

Misinformation started the avalanche that has descended on the pit bull. Only you can stop it. “If you tell a man there are 270,678,984,341 stars in the universe, he will believe you. But if you put up a sign saying “KEEP THESE DOGS SEPARATED, OR THEY WILL FIGHT”, that man has to make a personal investigation.” – Earl Tudor

As Christmas approaches please remember pit bulls are not gifts. These are beings who come with a huge responsibility, to both the dog and to society.

Not South African but a promising step in the right direction. Holding those who cause carnage with dogs who are not safe to be sent back into society accountable is important. Whether you own, breed or rescue pit bulls you have a duty to keep those who live around the dog safe. Irresponsible rescue kills. Read the article:

Words like ” alpha”,”dominance” and “pack leader” no longer have relevance in the modern dog training and behaviour world. Read the Article!!

A very interesting read. The PBFSA does not condone nor endorse ANY training that involves ” dominating” a dog, the dominance theory was proven to be “false” over 40yrs ago. Any form of “dominance” based training must be avoided as it is known to cause aggression in dogs. It is also important to note that dogs are not pack animals. Article 4 December 2022: This is great and Algoa FM needs to be commended for publishing this. These outdated theories and methods are dangerous and we need to move past them now. We have science now! Algoa FM

We thank the United Independent Movement for inviting us to be part of a discussion panel last night where we not only could explain who the pit bull is but also discuss why the number of bites escalated over the years, but could explain why even the most friendly tolerant pit bull like any other dog has limits, and why this often ends in tragedy. First part of discussion The second part of the panel discussion. The PBFSA does not give comment on dog fighting neither can we give comment on the discussion on dog fighting. It is however important to note that dog fighting should only be handled by mandated law enforcement. Second part of discussion
