DNA Research Project Update

In collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and the Agricultural Research Council, we are proud to share that our nationwide DNA research project is entering its final stage.

Samples have been collected across South Africa from a wide range of environments — including domestic homes (formal & informal) and rescue populations — ensuring a broad and realistic representation.

Current sample breakdown:
• 20% Registered APBTs
• 55% Pit bull–type dogs
• 15% Crossbreeds
• 9% Other breeds
• 1/3 Female | 2/3 Male

Analysis is still ongoing, and we are now moving closer to insights that will include home-based research findings — a critical step in understanding dogs within real-life environments.

This project is about facts, not assumptions.
About science, not speculation.

Thank you to everyone who contributed and supported this important initiative. Final insights coming soon.
